Las Vegas

My three day trip to Las Vegas in January 2015.

The fountains at the Bellagio. There’s a show every half hour or so where the fountains are coordinated with music

Only knowing Las Vegas from movies it’s easy to forget that this busy city is in the middle of a desert.

I forgot which Casino this was.

The Excalibur Hotel Casino. Which (obviously) is medieval themed.

The famous fountains of the Bellagio on the bottom, the Bellagio on the left and Ceasar’s Palace is on the right. Not having been there before it was impressive how massive all these hotels are. This was shot from the Paris Casino’s own 1/3 Eiffel Tower replica. It’s fully built to scale and you can go to the top just like in the real one.

I think the one in the very back on the left is the Mirage, the white one in the back/center is the MGM Grand, the pink one is the Flamingo and on the left it’s Caesars Palace again. Most of these were featured in the Ocean’s trilogy.

Fremont Street is part of the “old town” of Las Vegas. The casinos here are much smaller and less fancy. On top just below that blue canopy there’s a slack line which shoots you dangling from a rope through the entire street. And quite fast too. It was absurdly expensive but definitely a really unique and memorable experience!

Fremont Street used to be open to traffic, during that time the famous car chase from James Bond – Diamonds are forever took place here.

You can see the Four Queens Casino here.

Inside the Luxor Hotel Casino. That’s of course the famous pyramid and Egyptian themed Casino in Las Vegas. This is where we stayed. Again it’s so impressive how big these casinos are. And one casino doesn’t just have gambling areas but this one for example houses entire exhibitions and shows like for example the “Bodies” exhibition (The one with the conserved corpses).

The New York New York has a whole little fake city inside with real restaurants styled like cliche old American restaurants.

On top of the fake houses  in this picture you can actually see part of the roller coaster of the New York New York. Yes, there’s a roller coaster in the casino. Which goes outside. We went on it but unfortunately we couldn’t bring cameras for that.

Inside Caesar’s Palace. The attention to detail was astonishing.

And last but not least, the Strip, the famous road where all the big casinos are located. On the right you can see the tower of the Bellagio, further to the right the Caesar’s Palace and in the very back the MGM Grand.
